The Launch's History Tour
The Launch's "history tour" continues on Father's Day, June 16th with a special out door, all ages show at Delaware's Bellevue State Park. Not only is Bellevue a beautifully scenic location, it is also rich in historic importance to the state of Delaware. The park is a former estate of William du Pont, Jr., who purposefully surrounded his home with tennis courts, equestrian stables with training facilities, gardens, and a picturesque pond. All this is in a setting of woodlands and fields hosting the perfect environment for bluebirds and other natural attractions. Bellevue's fields over look the Delaware River. The du Pont mansion, in the park, was originally built as a Gothic Revival castle but was subsequently transformed into a replica of President James Madison's home, Montpelier. Tours of the mansion are periodically available. The park was acquired by the State of Delaware in 1976. Come to the show and come early to soak up the vistas but most importantly,
make sure to bring dad! The Launch will be playing as part of Bellevue's summer concert series. Sunday shows begin at 6:30PM and are held on stage, in the park's band shell.
If you go, because of some I-95 construction in the area, there will be detours that begin 6/3/2019.
- From I-495: take Exit 4 (Edgemoore). Turn right on Edgemoor Road, then slight right onto Rt 3 (Marsh Road), then turn right on Carr Road. The park entrance will be on the right.
- From I-95 Northbound: take Exit 10 (Harvey Road). Turn right on Harvy Road, then right on Philadelphia Pike. Turn right on Silverside Road then left on Carr Road. The park entrance will be on the left.
- From I-95 Southbound: take Exit 9 (Marsh Road) and turn left on Marsh Road. Turn left onto Washington Street Extension. Turn left on Philadelphia Pike, left on Bellevue Parkway, and left again on Carr Road. The park entrance will be on the left.
And of course, this goes with out special notice, as always, The Launch hopes to see you there. Happy Father's Day!
